Global Vibe: KEEPING CURRENT

Upper Primary
Upper Primary School students of English and Civics and Citizenship will develop their literacy skills by undertaking this assignment. With an emphasis on conflict resolution, students will have the opportunity to reflect on Current Affairs as a medium for discussion and communication - whether it is a global or local story.

 

Junior Secondary
This task encourages students of Mass Media to appreciate the sensitivities of Current Affairs reporting and journalism. Completing the task will encourage the students' perceptions of bias in open and public debate.

 

Senior Secondary
Senior students of Mass Media, through undertaking this task, will gain insight into the decision making processes and sensitivities involved in the selection, creation and writing of Current Affairs story items.

 

Getting Connected: KEEPING CURRENT

Upper Primary
This task introduces Upper Primary students to the television genre of Current Affairs. They will learn to ascertain the basic difference between news and Current Affairs programming style. By actively listening, evaluating and writing, students will develop their analytical and language usage skills.

Undertaking this assignment, students of English and Media Studies will have opportunity to exercise their judgement and analytical skills in making informed decisions. In this responsible decision making task, students will consider the moral, ethical and social implications of Current Affairs programming.
